Cornwall’s Little Historian | Sara’s mission |SD&G Photographer

For a while now I have been following, on Facebook an avid history buff. Her love for the history of her home town is amazing and admirable. She holds a BA in history and was named Cornwall’s Little historian by citizens, and the media. She has also become a member of Cornwall’s heritage group.

Her research into Cornwall’s house of refuge led her to discover that, several inmates of the facility who had no relatives to claim their remains upon their death were buried in unmarked graves on the property. Upon expansion of a city street to the rear of the current property several remains were found and re-located to a cemetery. But once again they were buried in unmarked graves.

Sara has a mission, and that mission is to erect a monument so that these inmates graves will no longer go unnoticed. With a second monument to be on the grounds of the former house of refuge, as there are still unmarked, and undiscovered graves on the property.

You can find more information on Sara’s website  http://www.saraloveshistory.com

I am in the process of creating a sketch of the house of refuge from a vintage postcard photo Sara shared on her Facebook page. I will be donating it to Sara to raffle off and raise funds for the monuments.

It is almost finished…
