I have a certain fondness for this mill. I have photographed it, I have sketched it, I have even paddled a canoe over the dam that is on the river beside it in the Raisin River Canoe Race. An annual event that starts in St. Andrew’s west and ends in Williaimstown, it is held in April when the ice melt fills the river and makes it navigable by canoe the entire distance of the race. Some years the race is postponed if the ice melt is late or the ice has not yet broken on the river.
